Who We Are

What We Believe

We are a gospel centred church family of people from the Portadown area. We are part of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, which means we are led by elders and we are part of the Presbytery of Armagh. Folks in our fellowship come from a variety of backgrounds, and we welcome newcomers of all ages and stages of life.

We love the Lord, love His Word and love people.

As a Reformed congregation that traces much of our theological heritage back to the 16th century Reformation, we believe that salvation is by grace alone (Sola Gratia), through faith alone (Sola Fide), in Christ alone (Solus Christus), according to Scripture alone (Sola Scriptura), for the glory of God alone (Soli Deo Gloria).

As a part of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland (PCI), we hold to the doctrinal standards found in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms.

You may visit the PCI website for further, more detailed information about our denomination and its mission.

Our Story

In our town thousands and thousands of people do not follow Jesus. We want to reach out with the good news that Jesus saves and transforms lives.

We exist to see people in Portadown saved by God’s grace and disciples made.

We want to see our town changed one life at a time. People coming to follow Jesus and be transformed by his love. People glorifying God and enjoying him every day.

Covenant Church, is a Presbyterian congregation planted from Hill Street and by the permission of the Presbytery of Armagh.
